utah photographer | Spence’s last inpatient chemo treatment….YAY YAY YAY

Spencer was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a malignant tumor in his parapharyngeal space in february. He’s been doing Chemo, and also did radiation over the course of a year. A year. That’s a really really long time to undergo treatment. Yesterday was Spence’s last inpatient chemo treatment. I was able to be there to document it. Spencer looked incredible. He looked lively, and happy, and on his way to total health. He is doing so so much better.

**An excerpt from Holly’s (spencers mom) blog yesterday: “I cannot believe that we are here. That our last inpatient chemo coincidentally lands on our one year mark. I cannot believe that we are here. There have been many times along the way that I was not quite sure that Spencer would make it through. Many, many, many hours have been spent at this hospital, in this unit. Many friends have been made, many tears have been shed. Many prayers, many blessings. One full year. One year of hell. One year of priority changes. One year of blessings. One year that will change our lives forever.

Some of Spence’s nurses…

He LOVES the Utes. Can you tell? 🙂

Spencer and his beautiful, loving mama

Spence likes practical jokes. He gave me this game to play. I hoped I was not an idiot. After taking a few of the quizzes, this freaky ape pops out and scares you half to death. It was hilarious.

Then he gave it one of his nurses who also likes to play jokes. It was so funny. The ape popped up and it seriously sacred him. He even swore, which made it even more hilarious to everyone. Good times…

They have these menus for the kids….he opens them and is like “do you want anything to eat?”. He’s so adorable. If I’d been there longer, I think I would have taken him up on the offer. They had some amazing sweet goodness.

The boots that he wears at night to prevent the feet from “falling” and causing chemo patients to have some trouble walking.

Today is his little party at Primary’s, I’ll have photos from that too. 🙂 Keep that tumor shrinking Spence!!!
There are many more shoots with Spence: His Make A Wish Getting his head shaved

Amen.
